ISLAMABAD – As reported by a news outlet on the 26th of January, the Japanese government has revealed its decision to allocate a budget worth USD 19 million for the installation a weather surveillance radar facility in Sukkur.

As per the details shared, similar facilities have already been upgraded in Karachi and Islamabad, while another one is set to be established in Multan and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The one to be developed in Sukkur is intended to expedite weather surveillance for maximum coverage of the country. The radar is anticipated to assist in mitigating damages caused by both natural and ‘hydro-meteorological’ disasters.
