ISLAMABAD – With the coronavirus pandemic at its peaks, various private housing societies in Islamabad have been held responsible for polluting the water flow in nearby small dams with improper disposing of solid waste and sewage.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and other civic bodies have outlined a process to stop the spillage of unwanted excess into said dams after Eid-ul-Fitr. The deputy commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has noted that the functioning of the dams and the water supply are under the responsibility of the Small Dams Organization (SDO) while the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is responsible for the inner-workings of each surrounding private housing society and schemes; as such, he has advised said societies schemes to install proper filtration plants and warned of future transgressions regarding the polluting of the water supply.
