KARACHI – The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has advised its related departments to intercede against commercial properties constructed against its original designs.
KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmad has asked the real estate branch of the corporation during a visit to the Liaquatabad Super Market to submit a report on the commercial properties that without following the pre-set guidelines. With officers of the department present on occasion, the administrator was informed that a total of 770 markets were unlawfully established, while an additional 17 shops located in the office of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) were also smashed or sealed by the civic authority.
The administrator was also informed of illegal enterprises on the first floor of the building, which were subsequently demolished. Ahmad reiterated that measures should be employed so as to provide maximum facilities to the public while also following the directives shared by KMC.
