KARACHI – The federal government is mulling over the financing of the Karachi Transformation projects through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP), according to news reports.
The Karachi projects include the improvement of sewage and solid waste disposal and treatment, water distribution, enhancement of transport system, among others and are expected to be completed within the next three years. The proposed collective cost for these infrastructure projects is approximately PKR 740 billion and will be bankrolled through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
This decision was taken by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) during a conference with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, where a ‘concept clearance paper’ worth USD 100 million was also approved.
